Steps to Labor Day

I'm joining {kinda unofficially} a challenge put on over at A Daunting Tale of Scale Warfare to take a set number of steps by Labor Day. The reason I consider myself unofficial is because #1 I don't have a pedometer {yet} so I have no way to know how many steps I'm taking on a daily basis. {I'm working on fixing this because I'm tired of making up excuses!} #2 I have no idea what to set my goal at. Our lovely host has set a goal of 586,500 steps between now and September 7th. That sounds like a heck of a lot to me right now, but since I don't know how many steps I typically take in a day, it could be very doable and I just don't realize it.

My point, for right now, is that I'm going to be more conscious of walking/moving instead of just sitting still. In fact I'm going to take my problem child foster dog on a walk right now!

And I'm working on getting a pedometer so that I can join this challenge more officially! If you want to increase your movement and join Steps to Labor Day, head over to A Daunting Tale of Scale Warfare, and we'll all walk together!

  1. Thanks for the link!! My personal recommendation is once you pick up a pedometer (you can find simple ones at Target for around $15) and just use it for 2-3 days to see how many steps you naturally take. Once you figure that out, make a goal of 500 more per day for a week or two, and increase it by 500 every couple of weeks. I started out taking about 4,500 a day and now I'm up to around 8,500 a day. My long term goal is the 10,000 but that's still a while off!

  2. Oh and I forgot to mention before, but I'm completely in love with Great Danes :) I keep telling Fireman that it should be our next dog
